Accelerated Spanish I/II is a rigorous, fast-paced, full-year course that combines the content of both Spanish I and Spanish II and is aligned to the ACTFL Proficiency Standards. Students will develop proficiency in Spanish using the three modes of communication: presentational (writing and speaking), interpersonal (comprehending and responding), and interpretive (reading and listening). Conversation in Spanish between students and the teacher is an essential part of daily instruction. This course places strong emphasis on building vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions to support effective communication in real-life situations. Students will also explore and demonstrate understanding of the diverse cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Upon successful completion of Accelerated Spanish I/II, students are qualified to enroll in Spanish III. This course applies toward the fulfillment of university foreign language requirements.
