This one-semester course is designed for students interested in exploring literature at a deeper level. This is a fast-paced literature class designed to build on student’s established literary knowledge. Students who plan to take an AP English class at Valley as well as students interested in a more in-depth study of literature would benefit from this course. Fiction, nonfiction, plays, film, and poetry will be studied in depth to invite readers to connect literature to contemporary ideas and expand understanding of other perspectives. To this end, the literature in this course may contain mature language and themes. Throughout the semester, students will explore these literary connections while developing their skills in literary analysis, writing, and collaborative discussion.
