Child Development is a one-semester DMACC course that reviews typical and atypical development of children from conception to early adolescence in all developmental domains. This course examines interactions between child, family and society within a variety of community and cultural contexts. Additionally, it examines theories and evidence-based practices associated with understanding and supporting young children. The industry recognized credentials made available in this course are: Essential Training, Mandatory Reporter, Universal Precautions, and Infant CPR. Students are required to complete the Preschool Practicum in 4 separate assigned preschools. Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from practicums.This course must be taken for DMACC credit.
