This two-semester course explores key algebraic concepts and prepares students for further study in mathematics. The central focus is the concept of a function and its graphical representation. Topics include linear, polynomial, piecewise, rational, radical, and exponential/logarithmic functions, as well as systems of equations.

During the first semester, students earn high school credit only. In the second semester, students earn both high school and DMACC dual credit.

This course must be taken for DMACC credit. All students enrolling in a DMACC mathematics course for the first time are required to take the ALEKS mathematics placement assessment unless they earned a B or better in their previous semester of math. Assessment results will determine final eligibility.
