ESOL Reading provides targeted, systematic language development specifically in the area of literacy. Students experience instruction in the five components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.  Instruction and assessment are differentiated to meet the needs of the students in the classroom and is aligned to ELP Standards and Iowa Foundational Literacy Standards. This course provides specialized learning opportunities for students who are beginning to develop foundational literacy skills alongside oral language development. Qualifying students may take this course multiple times for credit.
