This course provides an introduction to welding processes and welding in industry. Emphasis is placed on fundamental principles of welding processes, operation of welding equipment, welder performance, and weld evaluation and testing with specific emphasis on Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding. The course also covers metallurgy, metal weldability, distortion control, materials standards, and AWS and ASME codes. Safety procedures and health and safety hazards are also covered. This course must be taken for DMACC credit.
